I am a big fan of
Sky+ as a personal hard disk video recorder. I have tried DVD recorders and have always given them up in favour of Sky+ with it's excellent, really easy to use programming and replay facilities. Sky+ comes with a 40Gb (20 hours) or 160Gb (80 hours) drive with the boxes costing £99 and £399 respectively. £300 for an extra 120Gb! Aaargh! So can you swap out the 40Gb drive and replace it with a larger bare drive? Yes, of course. I bought a 120Gb drive from
eBuyer for under £50 and installed it myself. Others have been successful installing 250Gb drives. Full instructions are in this
Digital Spy Forum post.
